Opportunity for a Linux Integration Engineer to work for an engineering giant on the beautiful south coast.

Our client have continued to go from strength to strength, delivering a number of secure accredited gateway systems and services into the MOD that embrace new technology and innovation. Based in Christchurch, a position has become available within a skilled and experienced team for a strong Linux Integration Engineer.

Job Purpose

The Linux team develops and supports COTS-based Linux environments that form the basis for the secure gateway offerings. We are seeking an experienced Linux integration engineer to support ongoing efforts to automate the development and delivery of capability, in order to meet expected future demand.

The successful applicant will work within an existing development team, working on the production of Linux builds, integrated with open source applications and tools, within a secure/hardened and virtual environment.

Applicants need to understand the benefit of producing quality releases, within a challenging rhythm of release cycles, to meet customer commitments and milestones.

This position would suit an individual with a strong passion for Linux with a desire to continually improve and learn, embracing new technologies and open to new approaches and requirements.

IM&T Analyst

We have an opportunity for an IM&T Analyst for be based in Portsmouth on a contract basis working for an engineering market leader.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts analysis on internal IT infrastructure and works with Enterprise Architecture function to make recommendations on required improvements
  • Develops and maintains infrastructure and application models to document current and target architecture states
  • Owns population of Enterprise Architecture repository for required artefacts impacted by the project
  • Conducts analysis of internal IT infrastructure against required contractual commitments
  • Develops a familiarisation of MoD security standards (DEFSTAN etc…) and uses knowledge to help identify areas of non-compliance
  • Works with Enterprise Architecture function to assure internal processes and governance against BAE IM&T Policy

Data Network Engineer x 2

We are working with a market leader in the North West UK on multiple Network Engineer contract positions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of data networks to submarine platforms.
  • Determining requirements and design standards.
  • Writing of technical reports and technical specifications.
  • Producing outline functional system diagrams.
  • Prepare design calculations to demonstrate designs meet performance requirement i.e. network loading
  • Undertake technical development studies to verify compliance with design requirements.
  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.
  • Working across project groups to ensure designs meet the required operability, safety, security and supportability requirements.
  • Work with BAE supply chain and equipment suppliers.
  • Attendance at equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)

Would you like to work within our Information Management and Technology (IM&T) business working on application support and projects that come to us providing the IT infrastructure & Support for the Company?

As a Systems Analyst, you will be involved in the day to day management and monitoring of services and their supporting infrastructure components. The bespoke individual IT systems are managed using an ITIL Framework and you will be responsible for the maintenance, investigation of arising issues, resolved against the defined Service Level Agreements.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your varied technical skill set which will be used to support a large project base as well as the opportunity to develop within the wider BAE Systems Business.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Analyst will involve:

Data Migration Lead

A Data Migration Lead with SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA experience is required to work on a 12 month+ contract for our major defence client based in the North West.

Role description

  • Project is the migration from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA
  • Data migration work-stream lead is required to lead on the migration of data from ECC6 to S/4HANA
  • An exercise is currently underway to select our main delivery SI. The data migration lead will work closely with the SI data lead.
  • Project is planned to run Jan 2021 to Jan 2022, with likely a 3 month post go-live support phase
  • Experience of migrating data from ECC6 to S/4HANA using the standard SAP migration tools is required
  • In addition to data migration, the lead role will also lead on the data archive work-stream. This will archive all non-migrated ECC6 data into a data archive which is planned to be BW/4HANA. Experience of data archiving is also required.
  • The data migration lead will also be required to manage, coordinate and lead the data cleanse activity that will need to happen in parallel. The data cleanse activities will be done by the respective business data owners, but this will need coordinating and managing

Person specification

To fulfil the role above, experience in SAP data migration from ECC6 to S/4HANA is essential. The role is a key lead role so the person will be required to lead and manage a range of groups and teams within the project, business and 3rd parties. The detailed data tasks in most cases will be performed by others, this is a team lead role. It is expected that the person will also be able to get involved in the data detail to help resolve issues and challenges so needs a thorough understanding of the migration methods, tools and approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support production of design document for console solutions on new projects (Low Level Design)

The IT Systems Infrastructure Principal Engineer will be able to apply their subject matter expertise and domain experience to good systems engineering practices, to support the Engineering Manager (EM) and Delegated Technical Authority (dTA) in delivering IT systems and products to the submarine build and through-life support programmes. They will provide subject matter expertise and advice to other functional and capability areas to support overall project delivery and performance.

The IT Systems Infrastructure Principal Engineer will have a good understanding of the principles of the science and technology of computing and will be able to reference the relevant maritime legislation, industry & defence standards. They will have an understanding of the customer and user needs of the product system and how this will influence and impact design activities, technical and operational performance.

The IT Systems Infrastructure Principal Engineer will be able to understand and report the programme status for engineering activities, identify problem areas and implement recovery plans. This will include the management of any consequent change embodiment activities.

The IT systems Infrastructure Principal Engineer will have a working knowledge of theIT marketplace, including products and suppliers and will have an understanding of the direction of potential future technologies.

Responsibilities

The IT Systems Infrastructure Principal Engineer will be responsible for, or provide input to the following typical key deliverables, dependent on the role and the place the project is in the engineering lifecycle:

  • Captured and agreed technical requirements in accordance with company and programme processes.
