TEST SOLUTIONS HARDWARE ENGINEER

Role Summary

We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Warton as a Test Solutions Hardware Engineer.

The role will be an initial 12-month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to work within a major defence company and support production and delivery of IT hardware racks/cabinets to the RAF and and other export Defence industry customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of higher-level ‘system’ requirements to aid with the production of the cabinets.
  • Hardware build of modular computing server cabinets, using basic hand and power tools (screwdrivers, spanners, drills, etc.)
  • Installation of network cabling within the cabinets and power distribution hardware
  • Assessment of safety and environmental risks
  • Production of safety test procedures to satisfy the electrical test requirements for compliance to the Low Voltage Directive (and CE Marking or equivalent).
  • Production of basic functional test procedures to confirm that selected IT hardware is operational
  • Adherence to relevant Air and departmental design standards and processes.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Networks Integration Engineer shall also have responsibility for tracking the progress of the teams technical implementation of requirements devised from Events, Integration and General operations of the facility and ensuring progress metrics are maintained at all times.

Other duties and responsibilities of a Network Integration Engineer include:

  • Establishing and maintaining IT and digital communication infrastructure, including LAN network Security and Management, plus Integration with WAN Networks whilst maintaining Security standards

  • Be formally qualified in appropriate Workmanship Standard e.g., ANSI J, IPC or similar.
  • Adhere to lean principles and be able to support continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assemble/process product in accordance with defined work instructions or detailed technical drawings.
  • Repair/modify current and legacy products.
  • Be able to work with limited data utilising experience.
  • Use business systems to record product history/compliance.
  • Support and assist in the training of personnel.

  • Must be able to use technical knowledge to manufacture/repair/modify product.
  • Must be able to effectively analyse technical data to inform decisions.
