I have over 10 years of experience in business development across the technology, consultancy and video games sectors and have enjoyed recently applying some of the transferrable skills learned there to the recruitment industry. The role will be an initial 12-month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to support the overall Future Combat Air System programme objectives and Digital Engineering Vision.

FCAS – Digital Engineering Lead Qualification and Certification (SC Cleared)

Role Summary

We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Warton as a Digital Engineering Lead.

The role will be an initial 12-month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to support the overall Future Combat Air System programme objectives and Digital Engineering Vision.

Key Responsibilities

1. Creating a target state vision for your capability area based on the latest engineering best practice which supports the overall FCAS Programme objectives and Digital Engineering Vision.

2. Innovating and delivering the engineering processes, technology, people and culture requried by your capability area to develop the FCAS product.

3. Ensuring alignment with the overall FCAS Digital Engineering Roadmap to achieve an integrated, end-to-end FCAS product development system.

4. Co-designing and delivering the product development solution (processes, methods, tools, technology, people, data) alongside software vendor partners, internal engineering function and project stakeholders and other product owners.

5. Executing proof-of-concept and proof-of-value demonstrations – providing condifence that the new product development approach meets the time and cost goals for the FCAS Programme.

6. Leading business change, incluidng communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, building coalitions and creating urgency.

7. Building and leading a multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver the solutions requried by the FCAS Programme.

8. Leading and developing early-careers engineers to build a pipeline of talent that will grow the team as the programme scales-up.

9. Liaising with international and UK partners to discuss, agree and deploy a solution works across the whole FCAS enterprise.

10. Building close relationships with toolset vendors to ensure maximum value from the capabilities the tools offer and making new feature requests to add product roadmaps.

Key skills & qualifications

1. Experience of different stages of the Product Lifecycle – Concept Design through to Integration and Test (Highly Desirable)

2. Development of processes, methods and toolsets used in the product development process (Highly Desirable)

3. Ability to analyse information and apply engineering judgement to solve problems (Essential)

4. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, visualisation or modelling, to managers, peers and external parties (Essential)

5. Experience in more than one area of an Discipline’s sub-disciplines (Essential)

6. Experience of more than one Complex Systems, System of Systems, Air Vehicle System programme or project (Desirable)

7. Experience in articulating statements of work and planning and delivery of activities to meet schedules (Desirable)

8. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment influencing adjacent Engineering disciplines and other Stakeholders (Highly Desirable)

9. Be comfortable working with ambiguity, challenging established thinking, innovating, creating new ways of working and leading change (Essential)

10. Professional Qualification: Relevant Engineering/STEM degree (BEng or Higher) (Essential)

11. Professional Registration: CEng (Highly Desirable)

12. At least 5 years experience in an Engineering Discipline role (Highly Desirable)

SYSTEMS SUPPORT ENGINEER (DV CLEARED, UK EYES ONLY)

Role Summary

The applicant must be a UK National and hold DV clearance as a minimum.

We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Bristol as a Systems Support Engineer.

The role will be an initial 12-month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to support a number of critical defence IT programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in maintaining service levels across a number of operational systems;
  • Helping to administer service helpdesk, managing service requests, incidents and problems;
  • Support patch events, in and out of hours, on an ongoing monthly basis;
  • Performing system diagnostics, proactive maintenance and fault resolution;
  • Help manage and maintain operational systems to a known state;

Key skills & qualifications

  • ITIL – service principles;
  • Knowledge of 2008/2012 Server;
  • Knowledge of Linux servers (Operating Systems);
  • Linux installation, configuration and administration;
  • Undertaking changes in controlled environment;
  • Knowledge of Networking & Firewalls;
  • Active Directory;
  • MS hotfixes & patching of COTS, in an operational environment;
  • Awareness of rollout & rollback processes;
  • Virtualisation using Citrix XenServer, VMware;
  • Scripting and powershell.
  • Technical documentation maintenance.

Lead Security Engineer (CCSV4) (SC Cleared – UK Eyes Only)

Role Summary

We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Filton as a Lead Security Engineer.

The role will be an initial 6-9-month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to work on a critical maritime defence project and lead the management of customer security stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of Customer (security) stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Coordinate and support the customer stakeholders to establish Project’s Security goals and Product Security requirements.
  • Ensure all stakeholders understand and adhere to the contracted Product Security rules and procedures and foster best practice.
  • Maintain Project Security Management Plans and System Security Architecture Document.
  • Mature the definition and manage the schedule of product security activities across the projects.
  • Lead the Programme PSEc and architecture / design teams to undertake Product Security risk identification, management and assessment activities.
  • Lead the construction and delivery of the risk management and accreditation documentation (RMADS)
  • Lead engagement with internal and external customers, ensuring that their requirements are fully considered and adequately supported where appropriate and agreed.
  • Produce, present and articulate clear and logical technical product security arguments
  • Complete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the product security documentation.
  • In partnership with the MOD Security Assurance Coordinator, support the appropriate meetings and Working Groups, providing the chair as appropriate.
  • Provide programme status updates, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans to the Engineering Delivery Manager.
  • Lead appropriate meetings and working groups, support adjacent transversal disciplines to ensure coherence (for example safety engineering).
  • Deliver presentation material to support project design review major events.

Key skills & qualifications

Essential:

  • Demonstrable leadership Skills
  • CISSP or CISM
  • CCP Senior SIRA or equivalent
  • Extensive background in managing cyber risk using different methodologies, e.g. NIST, ISO27001, IS1/2, MITRE and STRIDE at a technical level
  • Significant experience of managing security at a programme level (ideally within a defence or government context)
  • Demonstrable experience of HMG Cyber Accreditations.
  • SC Cleared
  • Experience of working within an Engineering Lifecycle.

Desirable:

  • Degree Qualified in a STEM or IT subject
  • Qualified in offensive Cyber Security
  • Project Management Skills
  • ITIL
  • Exposure to UK MoD policies and processes
