This position will give the successfull Estimator resonsibility for the co-ordination, reporting and preparation of accurate cost estimates.

Role responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Ensuring the accurate completion of the estimating process, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure the timely submission of quotes to customers.
  • Maintaining the Enquiry Bid register and providing regular updates, progress and status of all estimates and quotations.
  • Preparing and Developing cost estimates:
    • Review technical data pack to assess requirements, capabilities and identify all processes required to manufacture.
    • Create and maintain structured bill of material from customer data or drawings.
    • Work in conjunction with the Purchasing Department to produce material estimates
    • Work in conjunction with the Engineering Department to establish drawing pack suitability.
    • Prepare estimate labour data using standard model and adjust based on manufacturing characteristics.
    • Liaise with Operations to ensure preparation of engineering NRE hours, tooling, capital, facilities and consumable estimates are included where appropriate.
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders such as engineering, operations, quality, procurement and programme management functions for preparation of estimates.
  • Develop, analyse and improve base manufacturing data including estimating model, manufacturing and support synthetics, standard hours, basis of estimates, etc.

Required skills & experience:

  • Proven experience in estimating within the electronics manufacturing industry
  • Good attention to detail; maintaining our high standards for delivery, quality and accuracy
  • Knowledge of Surface-Mount-Technology (SMT), auto and manual circuit card processes, cable and harness assembly, fabrication and electro mechanical assembly
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
  • Good financial acumen and understanding of manufacturing cost drivers
  • You will ideally have previous experience within the military, defence, aerospace or automotive electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Systems Engineer – UHF/RF Communications

In this customer facing role, you will be an integral member of the team, responsible for the delivery of technical ‘systems’ support for contracts relating to UHF Fleet SATCOM Maritime and Multi Media (MMM) equipment, installed on Royal Naval/RFA ships, submarines and shore establishments.

The System Engineer will have mechanical and electrical skills and be a technical authority / SME (Subject Matter Expert) in their field and provide a high level of technical support.

You will be a part of a highly capable team of field based ‘Systems / Field Service Engineers’ with the responsibility for providing specialist technical support to maritime platforms and defence establishments, within the UK and abroad.

Overview:

  • Provide off-site engineering support; fault finding and maintaining the equipment in support of the Project Manager to meet the short and long term customer work programmes.
  • Deploy nationally and globally when required, inclusive of Contractors on Deployed Operations areas, in order to fulfil contractual and operational requirements.
  • Contribute, as an active team member, towards ’24/7 Help Desk’ operations, when required. Providing technical support and being prepared at times to fulfil a short notice deployment in support of defect rectification and support for the customer, when required.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with Maritime communications and Multi Media systems to include basic networking and computer skills.
  • Ideally qualified to HNC / HND in a related discipline or in lieu of academics, or possess considerable equivilant experience.
  • Experience of working with UHF SATCOM systems (Maritime /land/Air) with knowledge of waveforms and systems utilised within the Naval Maritime sphere.
  • Have a good working knowledge of RF theory and application, including the use of equipment involved in problem solving of RF systems. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Power Meter, TDR, Frequency Counter, Spectrum Analyser, Cable loss measurements.
  • Customer facing, field based ‘technical support’ experience.

The primary responsibility will be for operational delivery of a high quality sales invoicing and order book management service. Exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to be based in Farnborough on a contract basis with a defence and engineering giant.

We are working with a huge engineering client who are based in Farnborough on an exciting new contract Project Manager opportunity.

As part of a wider corporate project around efficiency and effectiveness, the Procurement Function are reviewing and identifying opportunities for core activity optimisation (e.g. removal of duplication, establishing centres of excellence etc.).

A dedicated Project Manager is required to support the following:

  • Project Coordination: General project planning and coordination of functional inputs to the wider corporate project – establishing the drum beat within the function and driving actions to completion.
  • Process Optimisation/Value Stream Mapping: Review of in scope activities through a value stream lens to validate thinking of future way of working (local, Centre of Excellence, Transactional service etc.).

This role does not need to be a Procurement professional – knowledge of Procurement would be good, but absolutely more important is Pan-Business Improvement Projects – combining Program and Enterprise interests.

Configuration Engineer

Opportunity for an experienced Configuration Engineer to be based in Portsmouth on a contract basis.

Under the UK MOD Common Support Model (CSM) complex Warship Design Authority is comprised of the DE&S Warship Approving Authority (WAA) and the client Warship Technical Authority (WTA). This role forms part of the Hub WTA and provides governance and oversight of Engineering decisions that primarily affect the Hub platform . In certain situations, this may extend to wider WTA supported platforms as the business requirements develop.

The individual will undertake a defined range of engineering activities in line with the extant CSM Work Breakdown Structure, the CSM Business Processes and relevant Business Management Processes/Procedures. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the design intent and safety of the Hub platform and to collate the assurance evidence of this for the corresponding WAA while working under the definitive engineering authority of the Hub WTA Class Lead Engineer (CLE).

The individual will report into the Hub WTA and support the wider engineering team and other functions as required. This role will organise and co-ordinate aspects of engineering activity ensuring defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirements. The individual will be responsible for providing capability across a broad set of challenges to meet the needs of internal projects and customer programmes across the different Class Output Managements (COMs) as required.

The occupant of this role is required to support the Configuration team as follows:

  • Maintenance and update of Configuration Management Matrix (CMM)
  • Provides Technical advice and guidance to T45 Configuration Team on Configuration Management best practice.
  • POC / SME for the Windchill application

Core Duties

  • Maintenance and update of the Configuration Management Matrix (CMM)
  • SME for Windchill Administration and User Permissions including day to day use and application of the Windchill Document Management system and facilitator of Windchill advisory clinics
  • Expert in the use and application of Microsoft Office suite to include running reports, data manipulation and analyse.
  • Transition Management of existing WTA CM processes to CSM compliant methods.

  • Has knowledge of Product / Equipment Support in the MoD/Navy
  • Some knowledge of the design and development of Naval ships and ship systems and equipment

Business Expertise

  • Liaise with other engineering and support functions as required across the business.
  • PC literate in MS Office Packages-Word / Excel
  • Demonstrates appropriate SHE behaviors and complies with statutory requirements, regulations and company procedures, including SHE and ITAR.
