As a Global Account Director with aap3 I am responsible for managing a team who are tasked with liaising with clients and candidates providing end-to-end contract and permanent recruitment across the UK and EMEA within the Defence & Aerospace industries.

My main focus at aap3 is to maintain but also maximise the growth across all clients within my area, while ensuring I build and strengthen relationships with hiring managers through resource planning, job specification and on-going talent pooling. In this customer facing role, you will be an integral member of the team, responsible for the delivery of technical ‘systems’ support for contracts relating to UHF Fleet SATCOM Maritime and Multi Media (MMM) equipment, installed on Royal Naval/RFA ships, submarines and shore establishments.

The System Engineer will have mechanical and electrical skills and be a technical authority / SME (Subject Matter Expert) in their field and provide a high level of technical support.

You will be a part of a highly capable team of field based ‘Systems / Field Service Engineers’ with the responsibility for providing specialist technical support to maritime platforms and defence establishments, within the UK and abroad.

Overview:

  • Provide off-site engineering support; fault finding and maintaining the equipment in support of the Project Manager to meet the short and long term customer work programmes.
  • Deploy nationally and globally when required, inclusive of Contractors on Deployed Operations areas, in order to fulfil contractual and operational requirements.
  • Contribute, as an active team member, towards ’24/7 Help Desk’ operations, when required. Providing technical support and being prepared at times to fulfil a short notice deployment in support of defect rectification and support for the customer, when required.
  • Liaise and communicate with ‘system’ maintainers.
  • Provide training to ships’ staff and sub-contractors.
  • Test equipment, spares and systems in house.
  • Take responsibility for quality of work carried out and ensure that the Health and Safety policy is adhered to.
  • Review, update and improve internal processes and user technical documents and write reports.
  • To carry out and lead system installations on platforms around the UK/World.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience of working with Maritime communications and Multi Media systems to include basic networking and computer skills.
  • Ideally qualified to HNC / HND in a related discipline or in lieu of academics, or possess considerable equivilant experience.
  • Experience of working with UHF SATCOM systems (Maritime /land/Air) with knowledge of waveforms and systems utilised within the Naval Maritime sphere.
  • Have a good working knowledge of RF theory and application, including the use of equipment involved in problem solving of RF systems. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Power Meter, TDR, Frequency Counter, Spectrum Analyser, Cable loss measurements.
  • Customer facing, field based ‘technical support’ experience.

This role is for a Principal Planner working within BAE Systems Complex Systems & Support (CS&S) business supporting the Combat Systems Central Planning Team. Creating and Maintaining an Integrated Master Schedules in Primavera 6.

Skills/Experience

  • SQEP in the utilisation of Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project – with proven experience of creating large, highly integrated, task based schedules

The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for leading the Support Contracts business stream, worth around £15M per year.

The support business seeks to deliver reliable, efficient and high quality boats servicing, repair and Post Design Services (PDS) for vessels in service with MOD and other customers. It services over 300 boats per year of varying classes (all 18 metres or less) and annually delivers a further 50 PDS projects of varying sizes. Consequently, we are seeking resource who can quickly develop relationships with key stakeholders at each site and influence change by reinforcing a robust procurement process to include

  • Specifying requirements,
  • Identifying potential suppliers,
  • Running e-sourcing events – Coupa.
  • Co-ordinating the evaluation, down-select, negotiation and award,
  • Managing the transaction (SAP/Coupa),
  • Identifying and obtaining approval of cost savings to the business, and

Instructional Designer – Fire Control Technician x 2

Core Duties:

  • Design Training in accordance with the UK MoD’s Defence Systems Approach to Training and the associated Quality Management Standard (QMS).
  • Support training solution development and design activities.
  • Develop Customer and Stakeholder Relations.
  • Adhere to and promote BAE Systems Governance, Configuration and Change Control processes.
  • Provide Training related Subject Matter Expertise to Technical and Engineering authorities.
  • Support the procurement of training media through the provision of Subject Matter Expertise advice and guidance.
  • Design training materials (Lesson Plans, Computer Aided Instruction (e.g. MS PowerPoint), student handouts, assessments and other materials (e.g. graphics, images) derived from a task scalar (or similar) and in accordance with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
  • Develop Course schedules and related course management materials in support of training.

Skills/Experience:

  • Have successfully completed a Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) Training Design course (Defence Academy Course No. 98 – DSAT Detailed Design and Development) or a similar training framework course.
  • Have knowledge and at least 12 months experience of the successful application to training needs analysis of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT), including the DSAT QMS and DSAT guidance documentation.
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of current training methods and media, including Computer Based Training (CBT), multimedia, emulation, simulation, e-learning and Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR).
  • Have a working knowledge of Training Lifecycle Management.
  • Knowledge of Royal Navy surface fleet branch structures and their associated training pipelines..
  • Experience of Training Needs Analysis and Instructional Design within the Royal Navy Training System would be advantageous.

Crucially, the role requires Royal Navy experience – it does not have to be recent. We require an ex-Weapons Engineering Mechanic/Operator/Technician to be able to design a career course in a similar foreign navy discipline (Gunner’s Mate).

Subject Matter Expertise in naval gunnery/weapons is essential.

This role is to act as the Facility CAD Engineer for the Naval Ships Combat Systems (NSCS) Maritime Integration Support Centre (MISC) located near Portsmouth.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the MISC Drawing Pack reflects the As Built status of the Buildings Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical (M/E) Services and Combat Systems Equipment (CSE) Installations. This will be undertaken through the consolidation of existing drawings and through Building Service Surveys and CSE Equipment Surveys.

The role will also deliver an updated Buildings Health and Safety file through the consolidation of existing H&S Files and through on site Building Service Surveys.

Specifically, the role will cover management through the Generation, Update and Consolidate of the following:

  • MISC Building Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical Drawing Pack using AutoCAD 2016 or Higher
  • Combat Systems Equipment (CSE) Installations Drawing Pack using AutoCAD 2016 or Higher
  • MISC’s Building Health and Safety File
  • Update and provide recommendations and Implement updates to the Drawing Pack Configuration Management system
  • Support the Facilities Team in ensuring the building meets health and safety requirements and that facilities and changes comply with legislation
  • Ability to work in both MS & PS (Model Space & Paper Space)
  • Understanding and creation of layer stats and utilisation of layer state manager to create custom views
