Project Leader (cost analyst)

Role Summary

We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Barrow as a Project Leader (cost analyst).

The role will be an initial 12 month contract and will provide you with the responsibility within the cost team for the Material and Procurement elements. Responsible for the development/production and analysis of cost data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full cost support to Senior Cost Management team, APM and associated project managers
  • Undertake data analysis to support and advise affordability and pricing discussions with key stakeholders for contract proposals and internal business cases
  • Review spend and contract performance for DP2+ and DP3 contracts and provide analysis into contract negotiations
  • Carry out adhoc cost analysis, assessing and effectively communicating potential impact on the projects to actively support the decision making process, when required
  • Develop and maintain internal cost models to support APM management information
  • Lead and input into the Annual Budget Cycle (ABC) process, providing cost analysis at an appropriate level to assist APM with understanding drivers of variances and areas of challenge for base data, risk, opportunity and uncertainty.
  • Producing and agreeing a forecast of outturn for current year and a forecast of outturn for full programme (EAC)
  • Support Senior Cost Managers and APM in their analysis and reporting on cost and performance in line with monthly and adhoc reviews and support completion of arising actions.
  • Joint responsibility for maintenance and development of cost processes
  • Ensure direct reports have current objectives, development and training plans with regular review sessions in place to discuss progress, performance and any issues.

Key skills & qualifications

  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel
  • Previous experience in cost/finance roles
  • Experience of leading teams
  • Strong communication and analytical skills – particularly in translating financial data for non-financiers
  • Ability to be adaptable and use initiative when faced with challenging environments and adhoc requests for information
  • HNC / Certificate in Project Management or CCAB qualification
