Role Summary
We have an exciting new contract opportunity based in Portsmouth as a Mechanical Engineer.
The role will be an initial 3 month contract and will provide you with the opportunity to apply experience to design & development solutions, resolve engineering issues and problems for a range of products and engineering situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering theories, concepts, practices, principals, and approaches
- Able to apply theoretical engineering knowledge, experience & skills to develop products & services, specifications, designs and developments, able to resolve technical & performance issues and problems for a product or service.
- Complete the design of the enclosure solution for the Goldcrest Hardware Interface and Timing Unit (HITU) to contain an in-house design PEC and its interfaces
- Complete the design for the Data Processing Rack for the Goldcrest system
- Ensure the mechanical solution meets the relevant safety standards
- Provide rack and unit level thermal assessments of the Data Processing Rack.
- Work with and direct the project Mechanical CAD resources to scheme and detail design solutions.
- Define tests that prove the mechanical requirements of the rack and rack mounted equipment.
- Maintain technical design files
Key skills & qualifications
- Has a good understanding of how own activities integrate into the activities of a design team plus an understanding of the work of the design team.
- Typically requires a limited knowledge of activities of other teams in the Area.
- Is required to make judgements based on own knowledge and experience of similar situations.
- Must assess the viability and applicability of solutions, evaluates alternatives based on an understanding of common or previous solutions to problems and analysis of factual information.
- Is responsible for self and quality of own work and safety of self.
- May be required to mentor and coach team members

Rate: £35.53 per hour (INSIDE IR35)
