Java Software Engineer

Java Software Engineer: Java SE 8+, Agile, SQL/ NoSQL, Linux, REST/ Microservices.

Our client are a leading global organisation with an opportunity for a Java Software Engineer. Role will be based from their Gloucester offices/remote currently.

In this role you will work on a range of interesting projects in secure software, cyber & defence sectors. Excellent opportunity to build on existing skill set and continue to develop and grow working on a range of interesting full life-cycle projects.

This role will require UK security clearance to DV level but potential to start on SC level. The organisation will put you through DV clearance – eligibility criteria apply.

Key skills required:

• Java SE (8+) development skills and experience
• Databases relational and non-relational (SQL/noSQL)
• Version control tools e.g. Git
• Build tools e.g. Maven/Gradle, Jenkins/Concourse
• Agile software development
• Unit testing frameworks
• Software development in a Linux environment
• Restful services, microservices etc

Additional skills of key interest:

• Knowledge of design patterns
• Automated test frameworks
• Experience of Test Driven Development
• Cloud infrastructure services (Azure/AWS etc)
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Ansible/Terraform)
• OO mapping tools (e.g. Hibernate)
• Docker/Podman/Kubernetes/OpenShift or similar
• IaaS/PaaS/SaaS
• Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence/BitBucket)
