Facility CAD Engineer

This role is to act as the Facility CAD Engineer for the Naval Ships Combat Systems (NSCS) Maritime Integration Support Centre (MISC) located near Portsmouth.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the MISC Drawing Pack reflects the As Built status of the Buildings Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical (M/E) Services and Combat Systems Equipment (CSE) Installations. This will be undertaken through the consolidation of existing drawings and through Building Service Surveys and CSE Equipment Surveys.

The role will also deliver an updated Buildings Health and Safety file through the consolidation of existing H&S Files and through on site Building Service Surveys.

Specifically, the role will cover management through the Generation, Update and Consolidate of the following:

  • MISC Building Fabric, Mechanical & Electrical Drawing Pack using AutoCAD 2016 or Higher
  • Combat Systems Equipment (CSE) Installations Drawing Pack using AutoCAD 2016 or Higher
  • MISC’s Building Health and Safety File
  • Update and provide recommendations and Implement updates to the Drawing Pack Configuration Management system
  • Support the Facilities Team in ensuring the building meets health and safety requirements and that facilities and changes comply with legislation
  • Ability to work in both MS & PS (Model Space & Paper Space)
  • Understanding and creation of layer stats and utilisation of layer state manager to create custom views
  • Ability to read and interpret system drawings and wiring diagrams.

Key Outputs/Deliverables:

  • Maintain and update MISC Building, Mechanical & Electrical Drawing Pack using
  • Maintain and update MISC Building, Mechanical & Electrical Drawing Pack
  • MISC’s Building Health and Safety File
  • Through Life Support of Building, Plant and Services, including configuration management.
  • Cognisance and compliance with environmental aspects of building management and maintenance.
  • Driving change and implementing efficiencies where identified.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinating with SHE and Security personnel as required.
  • Create and continuously update MISC M&E Drawings.
  • Create and continuously update CSE Installation Drawings.
  • Undertake take compartment/building surveys against as built drawings.
  • Inspection of structural and building fabric/ repair work including new builds, installs and replacement of plant equipment.
  • Support the Facility Change Implementation Process capture from a SWAP-C perspective.
  • Provide updated drawings to support the approval of facility changes at the CCB (Change Control Board)
  • Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. in own area, and make suggestions for improvement.

Company/Industry Knowledge:

  • Good technical knowledge of building services, M&E and Safety regulations
  • Good breadth of experience within the FM arena.
  • Basic understanding of the defence industry.
  • High understanding of Configuration Management and accurate record keeping.
  • Basic understanding of Physical Security and ITAR compliance.

The Individual

  • Analytical / problem solving skills
  • AutoCAD 2016 or above.
  • Good Computer Literacy (e.g., MS OFFICE)
  • Good written style.
  • Experienced in Buildings Services
  • Good Understanding of Building Service Surveying.

Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD Experience (2016 or above), Engineering Qualification HNC to HND in electrical/Mechanical/Facilities or relevant experience
